Seven Days, the alternative newspaper for Burlington, charts the top ten albums sold over the last week in local independent record stores. Here are a few of the charts:

So, the only album to show up on three different shops' list is Gorillaz' Demon Days. The only other album that appears on more than one list is Coldplay's X & Y. Everything else is unique to that particular store which is, along with the high turnover on the Audioscrobbler lists, more evidence of the fickleness of Vermont music fans and lack of a dominant music trend.

I'll have to stop into Pure Pop if I'm ever in Burlington.
I think you'd like it. It's your classic independent, below street level, college-town record store. UVM's students make up about 20% of Burlington's population so Pure Pop see a fair amount of traffic.
I think you'd also like Buch Spieler with it's sizeable world beat selection. Another cool store.
Pure Pop is probably the best record shop I've ever been in, and I've been in a lot. Actually, there was one store in Providence near Brown University that may have been better, but it has since gone away.
Buch Spieler - That's a tough one. I like them and try to support them because they're local, but the fact of the matter is that they seriously lack indie selection, and their prices are too high. But it's a catch-22 for them...Their prices are high because their volume is so low.
