The Hottest State Soundtrack | Giveaway Contest | UPDATE

I generally ignore the promotional spam that piles up in my inbox but I've decided to lighten up a bit for giveaway offers that involve free CDs featuring artists we've already been championing. One of those CDs is the new soundtrack for the movie The Hottest State. Check out the tracklisting:

01 Rocha "Ya No Te Veria Mas (Never See You)"
02 Willie Nelson "Always Seem to Get Things Wrong"
03 Feist "Somewhere Down the Road"
04 Bright Eyes "Big Old House"
05 Emmylou Harris "The Speed of Sound"
06 Jesse Harris "It Will Stay With Us"
07 The Black Keys "If You Ever Slip"
08 M. Ward "Crooked Lines"
09 Norah Jones "World of Trouble"
10 Brad Mehldau "Never See You"
11 Cat Power "It's Alright to Fail"
12 Jesse Harris "One Day the Dam Will Break"
13 Tony Scherr "You, the Queen"
14 "Morning in a Strange City (Cafe)"
15 Rocha "No More"
16 Jesse Harris "Dear Dorothy"
17 Rocha "Never See You”
18 "There Are No Second Chances"

All of the songs were written by singer/songwriter Jesse Harris who is friends with Hawke. So, the soundtrack is filled with new tunes from a bunch of indie scene stars.

As for the movie, it's all Ethan Hawke. He wrote the original book. Then he wrote the screenplay. Then he said, "What the hell? I might as well act, direct and produce the sucker as well." If you go to see the movie, I wouldn't be surprised to find Hawke asking you if you want butter on your popcorn. The guy is the Bert Campaneris of The Hottest State.

So, the fifth and sixth readers who email us will win a copy of the soundtrack and Hawke's book. Email us at false45th (at) gmail (dot) com.

UPDATE: We have our two winners. Thanks to everyone for participating. I've sent emails to the two winners.

The Hottest State soundtrack is now available in stores. You can stream the whole album here.
