Higher Ground in S Burlington has just announced a fantastic night of music in mid September:
I am tremedously excited about this. Okkervil's 2005 release Black Sheep Boy blew me away. It's track For Real was one of my favorites of the year. The NH originated, but Austin, TX based group is about to release their fourth full length on August 7th entitled The Stage Names. I'm really digging the new album, which is a bit poppier and more upbeat than their previous releases.
Damien Jurado is a true love (expressed in a post from last year). I've never made it to one of his live shows, so I'm very excited about this opportunity. Curious to see if he will be doing the solo with pre-recorded found sounds part of his catolgue or be playing with a band, ala last fall's beautiful release And Now That I'm In Your Shadow.

That's going to be a great show. How about the Band of Horses show that they announced? How did you like the Wilco show?
Band of Horses! Saw them last summer in NC and THEY BLEW ME AWAY. Expect a post on that one soon. Let's hope for a great local opener.
Sadly I didn't make it to the Wilco show (it was beyond my control). However, I did go see Kris Gruen & Sean Lennon the night before. Expect that post up this week.
I'd love to see Damien Jurado. I only have 2-3 of his records (something I need to rectify), but they're very good.
If Jurado plays with pre-recorded background sounds, Paul Kaza will LOVE it!
Hey Josh,
Fred from TP here. Hope you and the fam are enjoying the summer. Things here in Providence are great. I was at the Okkervil River show at Jake's last weekend. Good stuff, those guys are excellent. Keep in touch buddy!
