Gingerbread House Contest

If you take something as simple and wholesome as a gingerbread house contest and put it in the Montpeculiar community, you're bound to get some odd entries. And that's exactly what I'm hoping for from next weekend's Home Sweet Home contest at City Hall.

Here are the details: if you want to enter, build something cool out of gingerbread, fill out this entry form (ignore the deadline in the flyer above) and bring it to City Hall before 9am next Saturday, Nov 10. The judging will take place from 9-10:30 and then it will be open to the public. The winners will be on display in the windows of downtown business for the following month.

The purpose of the contest is to highlight the issues surrounding the lack of affordable housing in Central Vermont but the fun will be in seeing what the Vermonsters in the area make out of gingerbread, confectionery sugar and gumdrops. Rooftop solar panels made out of Kit Kats? Compost bins from boxes of Nerds? I can only hope.
