Broken Social Scene vs R Kelly

Fantastic mash-up of R Kelly's I'm a Flirt vs Broken Social Scene's 7/4 Shoreline

Broken Social Scene's UVM show is just over a week away and we at the 45th want to make sure the die-hards get their ickets in-hand. Here are all the officials:

Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew w/ Arthur & Yu

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12th
DOORS @ 7:30 | SHOW @ 8:00
Ira Allen Chapel
Tickets: Students/Non-Students $15/$20

In reality this isn't a BSS show as much as a Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew show. The recently released LP Spirit If..., from the above mentioned iteration of BSS, has been a constant player for me through the fall. Reports from the road have the tour including tunes from both the latest album and BSS classics. Here are two reviews from the tour: one hating, one loving. I caught their show in '05 with Feist in Colorado and was blown away (review).

Here's the skinny on the whole naming of the band deal: Kevin Drew is by all accounts the primary songwriter and voice for the group. The album was produced and played by most of the usual suspects. So why not just make it simple and stick with the easy name, because they are Canadians. Oh, sorry. Because this is the first in a planned series of Broken Social Scene Presents releases. Fellow Scene captain Brendan Canning has been in the studio recording the second volume, which has a planned release of early 2008. Here's a live version of one of the tunes expected to be included on Canning's disc: Hit a Wall (McCarren Park Park Pool, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York 8/29/07):
