2006 Year End Survey | Vermont Mountaineers

Considering that our FileDen bandwidth allotment took a major hit this week when we posted the Arcade Fire track, we thought we could let it cool off a bit by posting the survey response from Brian Gallagher, the General Manager of the NECBL Champions Vermont Mountaineers.

Gallagher had a great year putting together a team that got a lot of key players to return, started hot in June and continued to roll through the playoffs until they were champions. Regarding star third baseman Curt Smith and next year's team, here is what Gallagher had to say via email:

Curt [Smith] has told us he is returning, and I am waiting to receive his contract. He is draft eligible this year and a lot of teams have been asking about him, so he may be drafted and we could loose him.

We should have 8 players returning if we can avoid the draft and injuries!

Sounds good. Gallagher also sent over his favorites of the year.

1) What was your favorite song of 2006?
2) What was your favorite album of 2006?
3) What was your favorite concert of 2006?

When I received your questions, I realized how busy my schedule was that I didn't get to a concert this year. I listen to the radio a lot, but don't buy a lot of music and can't even give you a favorite song or album this year! I listen to classic rock and current country music and my favorite group is the Rolling Stones.

4) What was your favorite thing about 2006?

My favorite memory of 2006 was the Mountaineers winning the NECBL Championship, which shouldn't be a surprise!

5) What are your best wishes for 2007?

My best wishes for 2007 is for heath and happiness for friends and family and for the 2007 team to win back to back titles.

I hate to be a dick, but....there have been a couple of Survey responses that essentially skip over The MUSIC questions........BORING! It seems to be the sports people that can't answer music questions. I hate to be a hater, but I had to speak up. If this were the Gong Show, I'd be hittin' the Gong.

You can't knock all sports people because Ryan Maxfield and Hannah Teter both answered the music questions. And to Alex Wolf and Brian Gallagher's defense, not everyone is a music fan and at least they responded to the last two questions.

If you want to whack anyone, knock the politicians. We sent the questions to Sanders, Leahy, Welch, Douglas, Dubie, Markowitz, Brock, Sorrel, Spaulding, and every locally elected statehouse legislator and not one of them sent back a response.

Those are the wusses. Not a single politican stepped up to talk about what they enjoyed this year.

Hey again, I did'nt mean to be so awnry. So, I'll back off the sportsters. I hate that we have'nt heard back from any of our politicians. You know who else we've missed.....the mimes. Why don't they speak up?
