2006 Year End Survey | Bill Simmon

Bill Simmon is a Burlington filmmaker who is currently working on the final touches of two upcoming films about locally legendary band The Pants. One film will be a documentary about the band called "High Water Mark" and the other will be a concert film of their May 2006 reunion show at Higher Ground. Both are slated for 2007 releases.

You can see clips of Simmon's other films on his myspace page.

When Simmon isn't working on films, he produces segments for VCAM. In fact, if you have any interest in creating a program for Chittenden County public access TV, you should contact him. Simmon will work with you on how to go about getting your program on the air.

However, the side of Simmon that most readers here will know best is his blog, Candleblog. The multi-topic group blog was awarded the Seven Daysie for Best Blog in Vermont in 2005.

Having caught a pair of shows with Bill this year, I know he's also a big music fan (and a great resource for info about the Burlington scene over the years). So, here are his favorites for the year:

1) What was your favorite song of 2006?

"When I Get Rich and Famous" by Arthur Adams

2) What was your favorite album of 2006?

The Crane Wife - The Decemberists

3) What was your favorite concert of 2006?

The Pants reunion show, absolutely (2nd place: Decemberists in Montreal)

4) What was your favorite thing about 2006?

I got married!

5) What are your best wishes for 2007?

I'd sure like the war in Iraq to end peacefully. Short of that, I'd like to know what's really going on on Lost.

You'd like to know what's going on on Lost!? I'd just like it back on TV over here in the UK. It's not fair.

Bunches of new episodes in Feb. Can't wait. Thank the lord for abc's free streams.

Are the free streams blocked in the UK? Have you tried a proxy server? That's how US soccer fans watched the World Cup on BBC.com while they were at work. I forget the exact site but if you google "proxy server" you'll probably find the site.

That MySpace link is to my personal page. To see films, including a couple of videos I've directed for the likes of Neil Cleary and Blammos, go to myspce.com/candleboyfilms

Thanks for the love, Murf!

Bill, Thanks for the correction. I just changed the link.

Dude, I thought you wrote "i think i saw murphy in the trailer park" when I read it too quickly. Either way, you are correct.
