Video - Hurra Torpedo

I have no idea what to say about this video. The guy who runs the fine blog "i will have the penne all'arrabbiata" tipped me off to this thing. I'll leave it up to you to figure out if it's real, a parody or performance art. But you should at least stick around for the butt crack.

From what I've been able to figure out through a little research, this video is from 1995 and Hurra Torpedo were a real group. The percussion with appliances was their schtick. Soon after this performance, they broke up.

You're welcome. There used to be a band in NYC called Skeleton Key that had a similar idea. It was a regular band except that the percussionist only played junk. He had stuff like a radiator, washbin, car spring, etc. surrounding him and he'd just be ablur as he spun around playing all of the stuff. They sounded really good live but their albums sucked. They couldn't ever seem to figure out how to mic all of that junk and capture their sound on tape.
