More Montpelier Music Blogs

On a per capita basis, we must be approaching Brooklyn-like proportions of music bloggers. Between this blog, Latitude 44.2N, Analog Giant, Tiny Meat and Mindless in Montpelier, there are now five blogs talking, at least in part, about music in the area.

For the Barre/Montpelier area, that's about one music blogger per 3,400 people. In order for Brooklyn to match that rate, there would have to be 725 music bloggers in Brooklyn. Actually, I take that back, Brooklyn may very well have 725 music bloggers.

Regardless, I just recently learned of Tiny Meat and Mindless in Montpelier. Both are fun blogs.

If you've ever been to the Montpelier farmer's market, you've seen the Tiny Meat folks selling their cool hipster iPod covers, wallets, card cases and wristbands. The urban artsy designs and colors are very un-Montpelier which makes their booth at the market so eye-catching. It's a fun contrast to all of the sun-faded-color of the organic farmers. Well, in addition to their online store, they also keep a cool blog. My favorite part of is the indie rock Tuesday posts with downloads. Lots of bands I haven't seen on other indie blogs.

Mindless in Montpelier is written by one of the Tiny Meat folks except it isn't a part of the Tiny Meat site. And while it isn't your typical music blog, it comments on pop culture and occasionally that includes music.

By the way, as I've been typing this post, Stevie Wonder's cover of The Beatles' "We Can Work It Out" has been playing. Such a smokin' little number.

Nice one. That is absolutely one of my favorite covers ever. I really liked the other beatles cover you posted a few days ago, too.

Yankunian, one of us is losing our minds. I don't remember posting any Beatles covers recently. However, I'm brutally absent-minded. So, I may have done so and forgotten about it.

What songs were they?

I don't mean to be a dick, but according to the 2000 Census:
Barre City - 9,291
Montpelier - 8,035
Total = 17,326

17,326 Total Population /4 Bloggers = 4,331 People/Blogger

Brooklyn - 2,465,326

17,326/4 * 2,465,326/X
17,326X = 98,61,304
X = 569 Bloggers for Population

Let me know if my math's wrong.

Sorry to do that to ya. It's the planner in me.

I do mean to be a dick but that's the financial analyst in me.

Let's count:

False 45th...1
Latitude 44.2N...2
Analog Giant...3
Tiny Meat...4
Mindless in Montpelier...5

So let's repeat your math with five bloggers:

17,326 Total Population /5 Bloggers = 3,465 People/Blogger

Brooklyn - 2,465,326

2,465,326/3,465 = 711 Bloggers for Population

The diffeence between the 711 above and the 725 in my ofiginal post is that I just used a ballpark estimate of 17,000 for the dual population of Barre & Montpelier.

Hey, you started it. But I take this as a good sign that you are feeling better.

You are right. I only counted four bloggers, not five (which could be 6 if we were to add FoundDrama). If I was totally healthy I wouldn't of missed that (yeah, blame it on the sickness).

I held myself back, as the Barre/Montpelier area usually includes the towns of Barre and Berlin, which would add an additional 10k+ into the mix. But the whole municipality designation stuff gets things too messy. I think the way you did it was the clearest.

That's what I get for being a dick.

All this talk about "dicks" was makin me hung hung hungry.
So Mindless and I headed on down to the Wayside for our usual "I-starvin-and-ate too-much-and now-feel-like-shit" porkfest.
Perhaps I should have had just the fich n chips instead of fish-n-chips, a steak n cheese and bread puddin' for deeezert. Gutbuster supreme I tell ya.
hey when does the Dairy Creme open?

flat...your kind post brought a tear of joy to my eyes...but what brought me the most amusement is the brainiac dick competition betwixt you and jds...bless you both for making my day worth living...

Oh! TinyMeat in the house!

No human bowels can handle fish & chips, a cheese steak and desert from the Wayslide. I wouldn't even be able to make it home after that gastric orgy. I'd have to make a stop in town somewhere.

The creme stand usually opens around the beginning of May. I think they have a similar place in Florida that they run during the winter down there. Perhaps the unseasonably warm weather will draw them north earlier this year.

Um, maybe it was longer than a couple of days before, but the Ludella Black song was a beatles cover, ya?

Flatlander said...

Hot damn. You're right. I didn't know that was a Beatles tune. Like I said, I had just stumbled upon the song on iTunes. So, I didn't know anything about it. And I wasn't familiar with The Beatles version.

Many thanks for the tip.

Wayside Update:
I hear declare a 4 week moratorium on my travels down to the diner. Ugh, my gut aches just thinking about it. Don't get me wrong I love the joint, especially...
***Shameless Plug***
1.Those rolls and crouton things they bring ya
2. When my daughter Lucy orders the "Lucy Special"
3. The whole belly clams
4. Grape Nut Puddin'

Man O' man I hope I can hold out for awhile before going back.

The rolls do kickass but the rest of the food there is brutal. Except for the blueberry pancakes. The best part of the place is the check. It's amazing how cheap it is to eat there. My wife, the kids and I can eat there for under $20.

By the way, this post has been selected the "Post of the Week" by Seven Days and will be in the paper this week.
