After almost a month of not blogging (aka slammed at work), I thought I'd get back in the swing of things with a dump of stuff that's been piling up. So, in no particular order, here we go:
- Attention Wilco fans. Their new album Sky Blue Sky is set to be released May 15th. However, they've been playing the songs live for a year or so. Therefore, some diligent blogger put together a list of live mp3 files for the songs on the upcoming album. Thanks Scott.
- Check out Portsmouth F.C. coach Harry Redknapp's reaction to getting hit with a ball while giving an interview. His line at the end is brilliant.
- The new website for the Green Mountain Film Festival went up this week with all the listings for this year's festival (March 16th-25th). I haven't gone through all the films yet but I love the fact they are repeating the late night music movie slot from past festivals. On opening night, they are showing Gimme Shelter at 10:15pm in City Hall.
- I'm completely blinded by my love for The Silver Jews but the trailer for the upcoming Silver Jews documentary of their concerts in Israel, looks fan-fucking-tastic. Thanks again to Scott for the link.
- Check out this collection of music inspired tattoos. So many bad choices. Thanks to cj.
- Montpelier's Kellogg-Hubbard Library has joined the blogosphere.
- The 2007 Plug Awards were the other night. Here's the list of winners. I'm glad to see YLT win Best Indie Rock album simply because it jives with my top album.
- So, Microsoft has hired Jefferson Starship to play a concert series promoting Vista? What the hell? I sure hope some marketing director got shit-canned over that decision.
- If it wasn't ubiquitous enough already, an iPod has now made it into the SI Swimsuit issue.
- The US has been placed in Group C for this summer's Copa America in Venezuela with Argentina, Paraguay and Colombia. Tough group; particularly when you decide to not send your best team.
- Rumors are flying that Chicago Fire of MLS is talking to Zinedine Zidane about coming to the city of broad shoulders to finish his career. It probably won't happen but it's fun to dream.
- The Valentine's Day Bandit struck Montpelier again this year. I like the fact that the police don't get upset with this and publicly state that they don't consider it to be graffiti.
- Every year, Bonnaroo slides closer to the indie rock side of the music world. This year's line-up.
- I like this idea for the next airport in NYC.
- If you like the Song of the Day podcasts from KEXP and KCRW, you should check out the ones from Indiefeed and Minnesota Public Radio's The Current. Subscribing to those four podcasts gives you about 20 new songs a week. Who the hell needs music bloggers when you have that kind of access to new bands?
- Are The Hype Machine and Elbo.ws good or bad for music blogs? I'll go with Option #3...it just makes it different.
