
The state house lawn was turned into a collection area for people wanting to donate supplies to victims of Hurricane Katrina yesterday and today. I don't know if they are going to extend it into tomorrow also but there was a continuous stream of cars dropping off food, clothes, diapers, etc while we were down there last night and today.

For a small town (Montpelier has 8,000 residents and there are about another 30,000 in the surrounding towns), the outpouring of kindness has been impressive. I don't know how many trucks have been filled but it's more than I ever thought Montpelier could generate. Hopefully, it'll make the next few weeks for the victims slightly more bearable.
