If any of you are planning on catching Sufjan Stevens next week up in Montreal (or elsewhere on this tour), you may want to get to the show in time to see the opening act, Laura Veirs.Veirs is a singer/songwriter out of Seattle who released her second album for Nonesuch last week. You can stream four songs from the album here.
The song "Galaxies" is reminiscent of Helium's early albums. However, the other tunes are beautiful folk-based tunes with lots of layered sounds dancing below surface. I was already excited about seeing Sufjan but discovering the beauty of Veirs makes the show a nice double-bill.
