Well, as I feared, Real Madrid popped in a pair of goals in the first half and rolled in the second half to a 5-0 crushing of the MLS select team.The result will reassure Europeans misimpressions of the quality of US soccer. They think we stink and this result did stink. But US soccer is still strong and getting better. Perhaps this will encourage European teams to further underestimate us next summer in Germany and that can only help the US National Team.
Oviously, a select team from La Liga would fair better against the best MLS team, but who cares really? I was more worried about the Fire's US Open Cup match tonight and pissed at MLS for putting a worthless exhibition over a trophied tournament.
